Write-up for draft-rfced-rfcxx00-retired as of 7 August 2013

Publication as Informational RFC on the IAB Stream is requested.

In the past, RFC XX00 was published as STD 1, and it provided a
summary of the standards protocols at the time of publication. It
listed official protocol standards, Best Current Practice, and
Experimental RFCs that have not been obsoleted, but it was not a
complete index to the RFC series. Today, there is little need for
such a document. This information is available in the RFC index,
rfc-editor.org, and the IETF datatracker. This is conformed by the
fact that there have been no complaints that the RFC Editor has not
produced and update to STD 1 since May 2008. So, going forward,
the RFC XX00 will not have a special meaning.

This document obsoletes RFC 5000 ("Internet Official Protocol
Standards"), which contained a snapshot of the Standards Track
documents as of May 2008, and moves RFC 5000 to Historic. This
document also retires the subseries identifier STD 1, which has
previously been associated with publications of the "Internet
Official Protocol Standrds".
