Michael Peddemors does state that this is a specific embodiment of the use of a client identifier that given the usage described in the draft, of a CID, specific capabilities or methods that can then be applied, might have specific requirements for protection, however it is the intention of the company to ensure that the use of the CID be granted to the public domain for general purposes.

The company believes that the idea behind the concepts embodied by this draft should improve the SMTP implementation for all parties, and has no desire to inhibit the use of CID as outlined in the draft, but wishes to be a position to protect it's other advanced concepts in security should the need arise.
