IV. Disclosure of Patent Information
i.e., patents or patent applications required to be disclosed by RFC 3979 as updated by RFC 4879

A. For granted patents or published pending patent applications, please provide the following information:

Patent, Serial, Publication, Registration, or Application/File number(s)

Patent number: 7272639; Filing date: Jan 12, 1998; Issue date: Sep 18, 2007; Application number: 09/005,479, which appears to make claims about embedding authentication information in URLs (and maybe other ways) and how that information is used.

And possibly, but less likely, the "Open Market shopping cart" patents, 6449599 and 6449599
Date: 2007-09-18
Country: USA

Notes: I encountered some work that may have been relevant to claims I understood might have been made in some patent filed by the Inventors listed in this one as part of "day job" work, work whose details I cannot disclose without considerable effort to determine whether I need permission to do so and, if so, who I would ask for such permission. Consequently, prior to this time, I have suggested to others and the Secretariat that their might be relevant patent claims but have avoided any involvement with this, or related, WGs or their products so as to avoid any personal obligation to dig out the patents and disclose (even on a third-party basis).

Having now how to review a spec at AD request, I have hunted up the patent and am filing this disclosure.

Doing so don't not imply any opinion on my part about the validity of the patent or the applicability to this work covered in this, or other, I-Ds, only that there are some claims in the patent that someone might consider relevant. A quick web search does indicate that the patent holder has several licensees for the technology, but I have no information on which to form an opinion as to whether those statements are accurate or relevant.

B. Does this disclosure relate to an unpublished pending patent application?:

Has patent pending No
