The IPv6 Address-based DHCPv6 Unique Identifier (DUID-V6ADDR)

It looks like this work will be dropped (at least for now if not permanently). There was pushback as this document fails to motivate why a new DUID format was needed (which devices cannot use one of the existing forms and for what reasons) and also a clear definition of when this form should be used instead of one of the others. Also, the properties required for the uniqueness of IPv6 addressees was not clear (how unique and how devices could defend this uniqueness if they move to other networks or are powered off).

Hi, without meaning to revisit any of the discussion that has already taken place, my read based on all of the feedback is that the idea is not very well liked by the community. So much so, that I am going to take a step back from it for the time being and return to the track I was on previously. I will post a new draft about that momentarily.

Fred is likely to request that this work be handled by the DHC WG. No adoption call has occurred and it has yet to be discussed with the responsible AD whether it is acceptable for the DHC WG to take on this work.
