Ballot Text

Technical Summary

This document specifies NMDA extensions to YANG Library – a mechanism for exporting the information about modules, schemas, and datastores used by the network management server that is NMDA compliant.

Working Group Summary

This is an extension of YANG Library to be aligned with NMDA, it does not specify a new mechanism, therefore the WG process did not result in major controversies. As NMDA was in development at the same time, there were various options being explored, which eventually resulted in a WG consensus.

Document Quality

There are indications from both closed and open source vendors for plans to implement this mechanism. The non-NMDA compliant YANG library is implemented and is in use, therefore it is expected that NMDA compliant YANG Library would be implemented and used too.

Personnel

Document Shepherd is Mahesh Jethanandani. Responsible AD is Ignas Bagdonas.

IANA Note

The document takes over the existing entries in IETF XML URI and YANG Module Names registries without changing the values of the entries.
