     Technical Summary
The File Transfer Protocol, as defined in RFC 959 [RFC0959], does not
provide a way for FTP clients and servers to differentiate between
multiple DNS names that are registered for a single IP address. This
document defines a new FTP command that provides a mechanism for FTP
clients and servers to identify individual virtual hosts on an FTP
        server.

     Working Group Summary
This document document came into the WG for final review after extensive
community review while an individual submission. There was a good deal
of public discussion before it came into the WG with several alternatives
to the chosen technology discussed and decided against (documented in
the appendix to the draft). WG review was reasonable and non-controversial.

     Document Quality
There are at least six know current implementations of this mechanism
and several others planning to implement soon. Several implementors
and long time IETF participants reviewed the document.
