Technical Summary

   This specification defines a data model and JSON representation of
   contact card information that can be used for data storage and
   exchange in address book or directory applications. It aims to be an
   alternative to the vCard data format and to be unambiguous,
   extendable and simple to process. In contrast to the JSON-based
   jCard format, it is not a direct mapping from the vCard data model
   and expands semantics where appropriate.

Working Group Summary

   There was nothing in the WG process that is worth noting,
   no controversy about particular points
   or particularly rough decisions.

This document saw IESG Review in April 2023. Shortly after, an ARTART review also arrived. Both of these reviews required substantive changes to the draft. To confirm community consensus on these changes, a second IETF LC on the draft was issued in late September 2023.

Document Quality

   There exist a number of implementations of the protocol:
   * IIT-CNR/Registro.it
   * Audriga
   * Fastmail
