Body
SG2 want to thank the IETF for the liaison statement clarifying the process
related to individual drafts and IANA allocations related to IPv6. ITU-T SG2
takes note of the comments within the liaison statement on the status that the
proposal made within Contribution 97 (SG2-C97), from the Fraunhofer-Institut
für Nachrichtentechnik Heinrich-Hertz-Institut, has within the IETF, and the
need for the proposal in its current form to be reviewed to obtain IETF
approval.

During the meeting of SG2, the discussion on C97 raised issues on potential
policy implications of the proposed mechanism such as the use of national
numbering resources and it was noted that such use was subject to Member State
approval. It was further noted that the results of the proposal as outlined in
C97 had not been submitted to the IETF yet and that such a submission is
planned for 2019. Furthermore the project was encouraged to approach Regional
Internet Registries to consider experimentations.

The meeting concluded that the contribution was informational by nature and no
action was thought necessary and that the project provide an update to the next
SG2 meeting in February 2019. SG2 would welcome any update from the IETF in
advance of that meeting.
