Body
1. Overall Description:

SA5 would like to thank IETF for the LS IETF work related to the management and
orchestration of network slicing.

3GPP SA5 is currently working on the Rel-15 specifications with target of
completion in September 2018. As part of this normative work, 3GPP SA5 is
evaluating available solutions for the coordination between 3GPP Management
System and Transport Network (TN) manager for the management of 5G networks
supporting network slicing feature.

The following are examples of information that 3GPP management system needs to
communicate to TN manager: - the topology requirement for the TN links (3GPP
endpoints / nodes to be connected by the transport link, e.g. including ports
information, VLAN IDs, IP addresses) - the latency requirement for the TN links
- the bandwidth requirement for the TN links - the isolation requirement for
the TN links

The interaction 3GPP Management System communication with the TN manager have
been discussed as the following:

3GPP Management System (e.g. NSMF/NSSMF) sends the TN link related requirements
to corresponding TN Manager.

3GPP SA5 would like to ask IETF for information on the transport support of
network slicing.

2. Actions:

ACTION: To provide information on the following:
1. Which types of transport networks are in the management scope of the IETF?
2. Which interfaces would be relevant to the SA5 Management System to
communicate with the TN Manager for IETF supported TN networks? 3. Can the
listed transport network requirement information be supported in the RFC 8299
or draft-ietf-l2sm-l2vpn-service-model mentioned in the IETF LS? 4.
Availability (time plan) of the solutions supporting the identified options
from the TN management perspective that 3GPP Rel-15 management specifications
can rely on.
