Liaison response to ITU - T SG15 regarding coordination on IM/DM for OAM

Dear Colleagues,

Thank you for your liaison response, in reference to SG15-TD29R1/PLEN Annex I.
We are pleased to inform you that IEEE 802.1 approved the Project Authorization
Request for IEEE P802.1Qcx (YANG Data Model for Connectivity Fault Management –
CFM) at the July 2017 IEEE 802 Plenary meeting. We take note of your new ITU-T
Q14/15 work item targeting Recommendation G.8052.1 and appreciate that you will
take IEEE P802.1Qcx as input for consideration in the development of G.8052.1.

We will share our UML Information Model (IM) and YANG Data Model (DM) for CFM
(covering OpCode values 0-31 and 96-255) as we progress them. As we agreed, we
trust that this will allow Q14/15 to develop the G.8052.1 IM using the
P802.1Qcx IM as a base. We understand that this G.8052.1 IM will then focus on
parts not covered by the P802.1Qcx IM, i.e., G.8013/Y.1731, through derivation
from the G.7711 and G.8052 IMs and will be translated to at least a YANG DM
(covering ITU-T specifics).

This exercise will indeed require us to align (also taking as input MEF 38 and
39 as well as the corresponding MEF errata). We do welcome the opportunity as
you noted to meet jointly in Geneva the week before the next SG15 plenary
meeting, in the following settings: during the joint workshop between IEEE
802.1/802.3 and ITU-T SG15 to be held on 27 January 2018, and if possible
during the last day(s) of our 22-26 January 2018 IEEE 802.1 Interim meeting.

We would also point out that IEEE 802.1 will hold two further 2017 face-to-face
meetings where P802.1Qcx will be progressed: 5-8 September in St. John’s,
Newfoundland, Canada, and 6-10 November in Orlando, Florida, USA.

We look forward to continued collaboration on this and other topics.
