Body
The Broadband Forum is developing YANG models to meet the end 2016/early 2017
G.fast deployment timeline announced by several service providers. Broadband Forum
practice is to base its YANG work on existing IETF YANG models and expertise.

In the Broadband Forum meeting of 18-22 April, the Fiber to the Distribution Point (FTTdp)
Work Area agreed to work on developing YANG models based on draft-entitydt-netmodentity
& draft-wilton-netmod-intf-ext-yang for G.fast deployments meeting the above
timelines. Given our interest in these drafts, participants will work within the IETF
according to IETF processes, to help progress them. Please keep us apprised of progress
of these drafts.

Further, we would like to inform you that our FTTdp Work Area is defining YANG models
for Broadband Forum specific context and use cases for :

- forwarding/QoS and required protocols (e.g. layer 2 multicast model & DHCP)
- bulk data collection (evaluating draft-ietf-netconf-yang-push and related work),
- software image management,
- operational states (evaluating draft-ietf-netmod-opstate-reqs and related work)

Once the models reach a level of maturity we plan to share these with IETF for review and
comment. Comments from IETF may be made via a liaison or BBF members may
comment directly.

Please see below for information on our next meetings.

Sincerely,
Michael Fargano,
Broadband Forum Technical Committee Chair
