Response to request for information on URI Signing 2015-11-02
|
Body |
MPEG would like to thank the IETF experts for providing detailed usage about your specifications such as the URI Signing for CDN Interconnection (CDNI) and the URI Signing for HTTP Adaptive Streaming. This information helped the MPEG experts to better understand how the URI Signing for HTTP Adaptive Streaming can be used in the context of MPEG DASH. MPEG would like to inform the IETF experts that normative work to support the exchange of tokens in a generic manner is being standardized. The completion date is expected by the end of 2016 as part of the ongoing Amendment 3 of ISO/IEC 23009-1. Even though other token formats can be used with this generic mechanism, the URI Signing for HTTP Adaptive Streaming specification exhibits relevant features that MPEG experts have identified for DASH deployments. For instance, the header based packaging of the Signed Token and the Expiration Time Setting are key features which the generic exchange of token in MPEG DASH are relying on. MPEG thanks the IETF CDNI working group for the collaboration over the past months and welcomes future updates from the IETF on this topic, if any. Our future meetings: - DASH Ad-hoc meetings, 29 May 2016, Geneva, Switzerland - The 115th MPEG meeting, 30 – 3 May 2016, Geneva, Switzerland |
