ITU-T SG2 for Information

As we informed ITU-T in a recent liaison (ref # 056.01) the MPLS working group
as part of MPLS-TP adopted draft-ietf-mpls-tp-itu-t-identifiers-00 as a working
group document.

The purpose of this document is to specify how MPLS-TP objects can be
identified using identifiers based on ITU-T Carrier Codes (ICCs). The
intention is to advance this document for publication as an RFC that
can be referenced from ITU-T MPLS-TP Recommendations.

In the course of this work we have found that we need globally unique
identifiers and we understand that the ICC is not globally unique.

Can you please confirm to us that ICCs are guaranteed unique within a country,
and that combining an ICC with a country code is an appropriate way to use
produce a globally unique identifier. Please also indicate to us the ITU-T
Recommendations that we can use as normative references in support of this
approach.
