Ballot Text

Technical Summary

This document defines a mechanism for allowing interested subscribers to subscribe and receive a stream of events being sent by a publisher. A corresponding YANG data model for controlling of this functionality is also defined. Subscribe notifications form a more generic event distribution mechanism than previously defined in RFC5277.

Working Group Summary

WG reached consensus on the document without singling out any specific topics that were significantly controversial. The industry interest appears to be in dynamic subscriptions, and therefore configured subscriptions have been more questioned whether they should be supported too. Shepherd writeup contains more details on the decisions and results.

Document Quality

There is a general interest from vendor community to implement at least parts of the functionality specified (dynamic subscriptions appear to be more demanded by the industry). The document has gone through several directorate reviews

Personnel

The Document Shepherd is Kent Watsen. The Responsible Area Director is Ignas Bagdonas.

IANA Note

This document adds new entries to existing IETF XML and YANG Module Names registries.
